Blackberry Wireless Chargers
Blackberry Wireless Chargers are the easy way to charge blackberry mobile phones without the hassle of wires and plugs. There a number of wireless chargers on the market now including the, Powermat, Gear4 and Wildcharge. All these wireless chargers work for the Blackberry Pearl, Blackberry Bold and Blackberry Curve devices. To wirelessly charge your blackberry you need a mat or station this is what you put the phone on to wirelessly charge, you also need a special back door (battery cover) that has a receiver built into the case, this is just a direct replacement for the back door that comes on your blackberry phone. The receiver back door simply slips on and when placed on the wireless charger mat just starts charging, no need for wires or plugging in, just place the blackberry on the mat or station and then your blackberry is wirelessly charging. All the wireless chargers give you an Indication via a light or sound as soon as you place your blackberry phone on the charging mat or station, this is so you know as soon as you have put your phone down it is wirelessly charging. Because the wireless charging technology uses tiny magnets you also get a slight pulling sensation when placing your phone on the blackberry wireless charging mat or station this also keeps your phone in place. The Blackberry wireless charging mats should be used horizontally because the magnetic pull is not strong enough to keep your phone held in place if you mount the blackberry wireless charger vertically.
The wireless charging technology knows once your phone is fully charged unlike a wired charger so it stops drawing power from the plug, making the blackberry wireless charger a much greener charger than a wired charger. But dont worry the wireless charger mat or station will know when your phone is not fully charged and will automatically start charging again ensuring when you pick your phone up from the wireless charger your blackberry will always be fully charged.
Currently the Powermat is the biggest selling blackberry wireless charging product but as mentioned earlier now the wireless power consortium have released the low power standard expect that to change very quickly with Apple, nokia both likely to join the wireless power revolution.
The wireless power consortium recently announced the low power standard (up to 5 watts) had been finalized. From now on all brands product that conform to the low power standard will carry the Qi logo which is pronounced "chee" Expect this to be the start of a new era as many top mobile phone brands have been holding out incorporating wireless power into their products until the "Qi" standard had been set. In the next 10 years it is highly likely that the microwave or toaster in your kitchen wont have a plug because the worktop they sit on will have the wireless charging power technology built in to the very surface!
Review of Powermat Blackberry wireless charger:
Overview:
The Blackberry Powermat wireless charger allows you to wirelessly charge multiple devices with a single power supply. This not only eliminates the need to plug in each device individually but more importantly also eliminates the power that is wasted when each adapter is left plugged into the wall. Powermats custom power supply delivers power at the highest efficiency, abiding by the highest power standards (Energy Star 5). In fact, Powermat Mats single power supply can charge multiple devices as fast or faster than the original cord that came with the device. Also, Powermat builds intelligence into every Mat. Each charging location on every Mat monitors the charge level of every device and stops sending power when that device is fully charged.
Looks:
The Powermat Blackberry wireless charger design gives a very modern feel from the start, opening the sleek box and packaging you get the feeling you wont be disappointed and once unwrapped there is a very stylish black thin curved mat that looks great from all angles which means it wont look out of place anywhere be it home or office. The mat has three spots so you can charge three devices at the same time. The blackberry wireless charger battery doors are impressive to as they look just like the ones that come with phones just slightly thicker where the magnetic contact has been added.
Usability:
We were surprised at the speed of charging, we compared the blackberry wireless charger to the wired charger in a test and found the wireless charger was about 45 minutes quicker when charging from empty, so thumbs up. Without doubt it is far easier to charge the phone on the Powermat blackberry charger due to the fact it is just drop and play rather than fiddling around with wires and plugs.
Price:
The Powermat blackberry wireless charger is available at £59.53 ex vat and the receiver door is £25.52 ex vat
